100 detainees deprived of rights due to overcrowding
Nearly 100 detainees in the Maldives are being deprived of their legal rights due to misclassification in custodial facilities. Convicts and remand detainees are being held in police jails instead of proper prisons, losing access to family visits and other statutory services. The Human Rights Commission has called for urgent transfers.
