Customs is looking to hire 48 employees with just four days to submit applications.

The vacancies are for Assistant Customs Officer Trainee. The requirement fa pass of at least "D" in the secondary examination and "C" in Dhivehi subject.

The deadline for applications is April 1, 11::00 pm. The salary package for the position is more than MVR 10,000.

The government is announcing hundreds of job vacancies ahead of the April 4 council elections.

According to posts circulating on social media, a large number of political employees have been recruited in the Youth Ministry alone this week, while five new jobs were created at the Tourism Ministry.

The opposition and the public have described this as an act of directly influencing the vote as a large number of people are being employed ahead of the local council elections and referendum.

Similar new jobs were offered from the ministries and SOEs during the 2024 parliamentary elections as well.
