Villa College's Qasim Ibrahim School of Business (QISB) has received the South Asian Quality Assurance System (SAQS) accreditation.
This is the first time a Maldivian institution has received the honour. The accreditation is on par with globally recognised systems such as the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB) and EFMD Quality Improvement System (Equis).
Villa College has worked hard since 2021 to achieve this accreditation. During this journey, which lasted for nearly five years, the management systems and curricula were changed to international standards with the help of an international mentor.
As a result of this effort, the college has 13 programs in business and management that are now internationally accredited. These include five master's level programs and eight bachelor's level programmes.
According to Villa College, the accreditation will increase the value of the degrees. The accreditation also ensures that the teachers and the support provided by the college to the students are in line with international standards.
