President Mohamed Muizzu's sister, Nilandhoo MP Fathimath Saudha, has refused to disclose the identity of the "businessman" who gave her an MVR 2.4 million loan.

Adhadhu understands that the central bank, Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA), raised flags after cash was deposited into Saudha's account.

But the police and Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) declined to reveal whether they were investigating the matter.

When confronted by Adhadhu, Saudha confessed to depositing MVR 2.4 million in cash to her bank account.

"Yes, it was a student loan taken from a businessman. All relevant documents have been submitted to the bank," she replied in a text message.

Saudha did not disclose the name of the "businessman" and refused to respond to questions about the "businessman."

According to her financial records submitted to the parliament last year, Saudha earned MVR 990,000 as annual salary. But she only had MVR 78,000 in her account.
