A company affiliated with Tourism Minister Thoriq Ibrahim has been accused of illegally operating a guesthouse in Alif Dhaal Dhigurah island.

The TME Retreats Dhigurah guesthouse, owned by a member of the tourism minister's family, has 28 rooms, according to its website. However, only 15 rooms have been registered with the Tourism Ministry.

Adhadhu reached out to Thoriq for comment, but he was not responding.

TME Retreats operates two registered guest houses in Dhigurah. One is an 11-room guesthouse and the second is a four-room property. However, the company's website says it sells 28 rooms in seven categories.

Thoriq was one of the first entrepreneurs to enter the guesthouse business. He first opened a guesthouse in Dhigurah in 2012. It was the first guest house opened on the island.
