The Media Control Commission has launched an investigation into a program broadcast by Channel 13.
The commission is investigating a satirical conversation on Channel 13's 2.0 program on January 7. The program host pretended to be on a phone call with US President Donald Trump and said he would have been happier if the US had taken the Maldivian President instead of the Venezuelan President.
The commission began investigating the program on the grounds that it violated the provision of the Code of Conduct for Journalists, which states that 'in order to maintain national security and safety, disclosure of information shall be conducted in accordance with standards set by the competent authority'.
The commission has asked Channel 13 to respond before Monday (February 9).
This is the second case under investigation by the commission since its establishment. Earlier, it had ordered Adhadhu to stop its political cartoon segment.
