The recently dismissed Chief of the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), Ismail Sajid, has denied allegations of sexual harassment.
In a statement yesterday (January 31), Sajid said the MMA committee decided to fire him unlawfully despite evidence proving the allegations were false.
He said the committee examined the complaint and found him guilty without considering the "sufficient documentary evidence to prove the lies."
“Anyone who looks into the details of this case will know that the action taken against me is not legally valid,” he said.
Sajid said he was falsely accused of sexual harassment for taking action against an FIU employee who had failed to follow work ethics.
He further accused that attempts were made to defame him and influence the case after falsely accusing him of sexual harassment.
Sajid was suspended from the post of FIU Chief with effect from December 25, 2025. He was dismissed on January 29.
