An unknown aircraft has circled over the Maldives for several hours.
According to information from aircraft tracking sites and other sources, it flew over the Maldives on Tuesday (January 14).
However, details such as the aircraft type, registration number and country of origin remained confidential.
Further investigation revealed that the aircraft left Chennai International Airport at around 12:00 pm before approaching the Maldives before sunset.
It came closest to the islands in the Maldives at around 10:30 pm. It also flew about 40 kilometers from Velana International Airport (VIA).
The Chennai airport is regularly used by the Indian military. Several Indian Coast Guard and military aircraft departed from the airport yesterday and today.
Indian military aircraft occasionally operate in Maldivian territory.
