The first session of the parliament for this year has been scheduled for February 5.

The People's Majlis Secretariat told the media that the first session will begin at 9:00 am on February 5.

President Mohamed Muizzu will deliver his third presidential address during the session.

Meanwhile, the parliament held two extraordinary sessions on January 5 and 6 on the request of the ruling People's National Congress (PNC).

They proposed a constitutional amendment bill to merge the presidential election and parliamentary election.

More extraordinary sessions are expected to be held this week to finalize the bill.
