Lanka Hospitals in Sri Lanka have stopped accepting Aasandha health insurance starting this month.
Aasandha Managing Director Aminath Zeeniya told Adhadhu Lanka Hospitals stopped accepting the insurance scheme after its contract expired last year.
"Yes, there is no valid agreement at the moment, so it is temporarily halted. Without an agreement, the service cannot be provided," she said.
Zeeniya said Lanka Hospitals continued to provide services under an understanding between the two companies after the agreement ended.
But the hospital has now decided to stop services until a new agreement can be signed, she added.
Lanka Hospitals stopped accepting Aasandha earlier in 2025 as well. However, the problem was later resolved and services were resumed. But the details of the problem are not clear.
Multiple Sri Lankan hospitals accept Aasandha and provide services for Maldivian nationals. These include five hospitals in Colombo and two in Negombo.
