A foreign man was found dead in the waters near Gulhifalhu earlier today.

In a statement released to the media, the police confirmed that the body was recovered from the sea and transported to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). Authorities received the initial report of the discovery at approximately 1:21 PM on December 18, 2025, and have since confirmed that the identity of the deceased has been established.

In an initial message sent to the press, the police suggested the individual may have fallen into the water from a barge. However, this specific detail was removed from a later version of the statement.

The police have stated that they are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the death and will provide further updates as more information becomes available.
