Assistant Police Commissioner Ahmed Mohamed has taken over the Hulhumale' Police Station amid corruption allegations against the former station head.
The station was previously managed by Assistant Police Commissioner Mohamed Dawood, who has been accused of illicit enrichment.
Adhadhu understands that Ahmed Mohamed, a recently reinstated officer, was appointed as the new station head on October 4.
In 2021, Ahmed Mohamed was dismissed in accordance with a decision from the police board. He was reinstated on September 3.
Although Dawood was removed as station head, it is unclear whether any other actions were taken against him.
Dawood was investigated during the Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) corruption scandal and recommendations were sent to the police Professional Command.
Deputy Speaker Ahmed Nazim revealed last month that millions were in Dawood's bank account, deposited by an anonymous person.
"A lot of money went into Dawood's account in 2023 and 2024 and the source of income is unknown. He is not involved in any businesses, but a large amount of money was being sent to his account and the source of the funds is unknown," Nazim said.
