Police have ruled out foul play in the sudden death of a couple in Addu city on Wednesday.

Ibrahim Abdulla and his wife Farhanaz Rasheed were found dead inside their newly-built home in Hithadhoo island.

The house is located in the tourism zone of Hithadhoo. The couple, in their late fifties, had recently moved into the home.

"The investigation into this case has not revealed anything suspicious so far," police said in a statement to the media.

"There is nothing to suggest that anyone was involved in the deaths," they added.

Police stated that further investigation was underway.
