The government has warned against those who rent out social housing units.

Both the Housing Development Corporation (HDC) and Fahi Dhiriulhun Corporation (FDC) issued the warnings after recently awarded flats were listed for lease.

The government said such flats will be confiscated as it is in violation of the agreements to rent social housing units to a third party.

FDC said the flats will be confiscated, but HDC did not specify which action would be taken.

The issue of renting out social housing units has long been a concern, but HDC had never taken action.
