Malé, Maldives: Victory Sports Club secured their first top-flight win in nearly six years with a narrow 1-0 victory over Club Green Streets, while New Radiant Sports Club continued their strong start to the 2025/26 Dhivehi Premier League season with a convincing 2-0 win against United Victory.
Victory, returning to the top division this season, had endured a rough start after suffering a heavy 5-0 defeat to Buru Sports Club on the opening matchday. However, they bounced back on Matchday 2, clinching a dramatic win in the dying moments of the game.
The decisive goal came from Abdulla Midhuhath Fahmy (Bichard), who curled in a superb free kick to seal the much-needed three points.
In a match marked by missed opportunities and cautious play, both Victory and Green Streets struggled to build rhythm or capitalize on chances. Bichard came close to scoring earlier in the game, hitting the post with a low shot attempt late in the first half.
Green Streets, meanwhile, suffered their second consecutive defeat, leaving them without points after two rounds.
In the day’s other match, United Victory, managed by Mohamed Nazeeh, faced a confident New Radiant SC, led by Nazeeh’s brother and renowned coach Ali Suzain. The clash between the two brothers added an intriguing subplot to an already competitive fixture.
New Radiant captain Ali Fasir (Sentey) opened the scoring with a well-taken free kick, his second consecutive free-kick goal of the season, having scored similarly against TC Sports Club in Matchday 1. In the closing minutes, Brazilian , midfielder Da Silva headed home from a pinpoint cross delivered by Hassan Raif Ahmed (Hanna) to seal the win.
With two wins from two, New Radiant sit at the top of the table, edging ahead of Maziya Sports & Recreation on goal difference. Both teams remain unbeaten and are looking strong in the early stages of the league.
