President Mohamed Muizzu has condemned the Israeli attack on a team of Hamas leaders who were in Qatar for peace talks.
In a post on social media X, Muizzu said "such cowardly actions constitute a serious violation of international law and is a blatant infringement on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of a sovereign nation."
"The Maldives stands in solidarity with the State of Qatar and calls on the international community to take urgent and unified action to hold Israel accountable for its numerous and continued violations of international norms and principles," he added.
Multiple countries including Qatar and Turkey have also condemned Israel's attacks.
The Israeli military officially claimed responsibility for the attack in the Qatari capital Doha. It is unclear whether there were any casualties.
Qatar is working as a mediator to stop Israel's genocide against the Palestinian people. Israel and Hamas have previously held peace talks in Qatar.
Hamas officials told Al Jazeera that Israel attacked the group's team as they were discussing a new US peace proposal. The proposal was submitted yesterday.
