The foundation stone has been laid for the Kulhudhuffushi city airport terminal project, which was marked as achieved in President Mohamed Muizzu's first 100 days in office.
Muizzu released the Hafthaa 14 targets to be achieved within his first 100 days in office. The government, at the time, said laying the foundation stone for the Kulhudhuffushi airport terminal project had been completed.
But on Tuesday, a ceremony was held in the northern city to lay the foundation stone ahead of next year's local council elections.
The project was included in last year's state budget. It is unclear whether any amount was allocated for the project in the state budget for this year, as the budget lacks details.
However, according to some documents seen by Adhadhu, MVR 5.7 million was allocated for the project in this year's budget.
The government did not disclose the reason for the delay in starting the project.

Muizzu attended the ceremony to lay the foundation stone of the airport terminal development project on Tuesday evening.
The Regional Airports Company has been dissolved and the airports operated by it have been transferred to Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL). This project is also undertaken by MACL.
While the foundation stone was laid nearly two years into Muizzu's presidency, the government did not disclose the deadline or the total cost.
The project includes an 11,345-square-foot new passenger terminal and modifications to the existing passenger terminal.
