Maldives Society for Performing Arts (MSPA) Chairperson Mohamed Rasheed (Dhara Rasheed) has criticised the government for not providing any assistance to hold the Film Awards.

Speaking at the award ceremony on Friday night, Rasheed said they sought assistance from the National Centre for Arts (NCA), Youth Ministry, Public Service Media (PSM) and Maldivian Airlines.

However, the agencies did not provide any assistance.

“We reached a verbal agreement to work together to hold this show, but we must sadly note that we have not received any cooperation from the NCA,” Rasheed said.

He added that the Youth Ministry promised to cooperate, but did not provide any assistance, while the state broadcaster PSM refused to broadcast the show live without charging a price.

"Goh Raalhu" won the best film award while the Best Lead Actress award went to Niuma Mohamed and Jumayyil Nimal was named Best Lead Actor. Vashia Mohamed was named Best Supporting Actress while Yoosuf Shafeeu (Eupe) was named Best Supporting Actor. Ahmed Sinaan was named Best Director.
