Islamic Minister Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed’s son has attempted to smuggle vape related products into the country.

Abdulla Maahil Shaheem was stopped by customs at Velana International Airport (VIA) when he returned to the Maldives.

He is a member of the Youth Advisory Board, which advises President Mohamed Muizzu. He also holds a position in the Foreign Ministry.

Adhadhu understands that the contraband was found in his luggage and body. A large number of items were taped to his body.

When questioned, customs media officials said they would look into the matter, but had not responded yet.

But customs officials who spoke on condition of anonymity confirmed the reports.

They confirmed that vape related products were found after Maahil was stopped and a fine of MVR 1 million was imposed on him.
