Dharumavantha Hospital has signed an MoU with a children's hospital from China.
The India Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), which operates Dharumavantha Hospital, said in a post on X that the MoU was signed with Children's Hospital of Soochow University.
IGMH CEO Ibrahim Abdul Razzaq Haleem signed the MoU on behalf of Dharumavantha Hospital.
IGMH said the partnership between the two hospitals will improve paediatric surgical care in the Maldives.
"This MoU represents our shared commitment to advancing healthcare in the Maldives and will pave the way for important collaborations in medical expertise, training, and knowledge exchange with the ultimate goal of improving the lives of countless children in our country," the main government hospital stated.
In a post on X, the embassy of China said ensuring the health and well-being of the people is a shared priority for both China and the Maldives.
China's Ambassador Kong Xianhua, who attended the signing ceremony on Saturday, said the partnership brings hope, compassion, and professional support to Maldivian families, while deepening the warmth of China-Maldives friendship.
