Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef's family has spent a holiday at a luxury resort at the invitation of the owners.

Adhadhu understands that Hussain went on leave in early April. He spent his vacation at a five-star resort at the expense of the resort's owners.

He stayed in a room that cost about USD 5,000 a night. He stayed at the resort for four nights. This means their total accommodation cost is USD 20,000.

He was accompanied by three bodyguards who stayed in a room that cost USD 1,700 a night. This means their total accommodation cost is USD 6,800.

The resort offers lunch and dinner for an average cost of USD 150, while breakfast is USD 70. The total cost of food for the Vice President's family and bodyguards is estimated at USD 8,800.

Adhadhu understands that they made the trip to the resort on a Trans Maldivian Airways (TMA) seaplane free of charge.

The special fare for locals to travel to the region is MVR 1,700 per person. So the cost of travel is expected to be MVR 20,400.

The total cost of the Vice President's vacation was USD 35,680 and Rs 20,400. This is a total of MVR 550,185.
