President's Office Under Secretary for Digital Strategy Daudh Ahmed has been suspended over alleged connections to a drug-fueled party after which a woman fell from the ninth floor of a building in Male'.
In a post on X, President's Office Spokesperson Heena Waleed announced Daudh's suspension starting today. She also wrote that he had resigned from the Presidential Youth Advisory Board.
Police earlier said that the group had partied in a house in the central area of Male' on April 18.
Adhadhu understands that the party took place at Mahchangolhi Maandhooge Dhekunuge house. The house belongs to Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen and two of his siblings.
Later that night, 21-year-old Hawwa Yumnu fell from a ninth-floor window in the stairwell of Henveiru Fentenoy house. Yumnu and eight others had attended the drug-fueled party at Mahchangolhi Maandhooge Dhekunuge house.
Police claimed Yumnu was accompanied by only one person at the time of the incident, but initially declined to reveal the 21-year-old man's identity. He has been identified as Daudh's brother, Raudh Ahmed.
Raudh left the scene after Yumnu fell and did not report to the authorities. She was discovered on a roof nearly three hours later and remains in critical condition.
Police did not arrest him for leaving the scene and even after he tested positive for cannabis on the following day.
On Wednesday night, young people gathered near a police building in Male' and demanded justice and a fair investigation.
