The national airline, Maldivian, has reduced the airfare to Kuala Lumpur for two days in April amid rumours of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu chartering a flight for an official visit to the country.

Muizzu is scheduled to begin his trip to Malaysia on April 27. Maldivian announced reduced prices for flights on April 27 and April 29.

Maldivian first announced a one-way ticket for April 27 from Male' to Kuala Lumpur for USD 99. But the price has been dropped to USD 78.

The flight from Kuala Lumpur to Male' on April 29 was first announced for USD 149, but it has not been reduced to USD 99.

This came amid rumours that a flight had been chartered for Muizzu's official visit to Malaysia. However, the government had not confirmed this.

When contacted by Adhadhu, the President's Office said it would officially share the details once the trip is arranged.

Muizzu will meet with Maldivians living in Malaysia during his visit. There are about 3,000 Maldivians currently residing in Malaysia.

This is the President's third trip abroad this year. In January, he paid an official visit to Estonia and then visited the UK in March.
