A 77-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a disabled girl in Haa Alif Hoarafushi island.

Police have not yet commented on the incident.

Reliable sources told Adhadhu that the man from Faafu Magoodhoo island was arrested yesterday.

He was arrested yesterday morning at Hanimaadhoo airport departure terminal after the girl's family lodged a complaint with the police.

Adhadhu understands that the suspect is the father of a senior government official.
