Ammunition has been found from a person who went to depart from the Velana International Airport (VIA).

Police said the suspect was arrested and remanded in custody for six days while the investigation continued.

However, police did not disclose any details including the person's nationality and gender.

In 2021, ammunition was found from a Namibian tourist departing from the Maldives. He was arrested and deported.
