Ahmed Mausoom has been appointed as the Director General of the Maldivian Blood Services (MBS).

Mausoom, who previously worked at Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH), has management and operational experience.

The Health Ministry said a physician, a Deputy Director General and a Director will also be appointed to MBS soon.

Meanwhile, an announcement was made yesterday to hire five nurses needed for MBS while other administrative staff are also being recruited.

Protests by Thalassemia patients and their families prompted President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu to visit the Thalassemia Center in Male'.

Muizzu has decided to facilitate the operation of the Thalassemia Center as a hospital in order to improve the treatment and services to patients.
