First Lady Sajidha Mohamed has insisted that the first couple's eldest son has never smoked cigarettes or vapes.

She was responding to allegations that the sudden vape ban was enforced after Umair Mohamed Muizzu was caught vaping.

"I would like to take this opportunity to guarantee you that Umair does not and had never vaped or smoked," her statement read.

She expressed concern as the allegations could affect her son's future and put him at risk.

At a press briefing today, lawyer Azima Shukoor announced that Sajidha had decided to go to court against the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), its chairman Fayyaz Ismail and activist Maryam Zubair (Mandhy).
