Deputy Mayor of Male' Ahmed Nareesh has resigned.

Nareesh represented Maafannu Central constituency in the Male' city council.

In his resignation letter, Nareesh thanked the people who voted for him and the party leadership that campaigned for him.

But he did not state a reason for the resignation.

Speculations about his planned resignation surfaced about three days ago, with some suggesting he was offered a government position.
