India has allocated USD 69 million as grant assistance to the Maldives for the upcoming fiscal year.

The Indian parliament is currently debating on the budget for 2025-2026. The amount included as grants to the Maldives is INR 600 crore or USD 69.3 million.

Bhutan was listed as the recipient of the largest assistance with Nepal listed second and Maldives listed third.

India's fiscal year runs from April to March. India included USD 54.2 million in free aid to the Maldives for the ongoing fiscal year.

The assistance from India comes as the country carries out mega infrastructure projects across the Maldives. These include Thilamale bridge project and Hanimaadhoo International Airport project.
