Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) has introduced a smaller 140 gram tuna can to the market.

Previously, the company's smallest tuna cans weighed 180 grams. MIFCO said the new 140 gram tuna cans were intended for small households.

"The 140 gram was launched as a one-time use can for small households because it is not recommended to refrigerate tuna cans," MIFCO said.

MIFCO also assured the public that the tuna cans to be distributed to households for Ramadan, as promised by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, will be 180 grams.

Prices of MIFCO tuna cans:

• 140 gram can - MVR 15
• 48 cans of 140 gram - MVR 700
• 180 gram can - MVR 17.50
• 48 cans of 180 gram - MVR 760

The newly launched 140 gram tuna in oil can is now available for purchase for wholesale and retail.
