President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has promised to solve electricity problems in all the islands before Ramadan this year.
Addressing the people of Gaaf Dhaal Fiyoari island, Muizzu said the Finance Ministry and government companies were working to acquire generators to solve electricity problems in the islands.
"Finance Ministry, Fenaka, STO and MTCC are aiming to bring and install the generators in the islands before Ramadan without leaving out any island that is facing electricity issues," he said.
Although installing the generators before Ramadan is a big challenge, Muizzu assured that the target will be achieved within the next two months.
"This will also be a big challenge. But we have started the work. My target is to hopefully solve electricity issues within the next two months so that the people will not have to worry about it during Ramadan," Muizzu said.
He also said his objective is to find a total solution to the electricity problem faced by many islands.
He noted that the generators used by Fenaka has been in need of replacement for many years.
Meanwhile, people have been complaining about high electricity bills since Muizzu assumed office. However he did not address the issue during his remarks.
