The police have failed to respond when questioned about how ruling party activists obtained police CCTV footage.
Activists from People's National Congress (PNC) circulated the police CCTV footage on social media and said officials from the Maldives Water Sewerage Company (MWSC) had worked to drain flood waters in the Rasfannu area in Male' during heavy rainfall on Friday.
Adhadhu can confirm that the footage was obtained from the police CCTV. But the police have remained silent after Adhadhu questioned about how PNC activists received the footage.
The footage shows two MWSC officials walking towards the Rasfannu beach where a path was dug to to redirect flood waters in the area into the sea. But the footage does not show MWSC officials working to dig the pathway.
Some social media users have expressed surprise as ruling party activists were able to obtain police CCTV footage.
Despite the activists' claim that the MWSC officials worked to redirect flood waters in the Rasfannu area, it was members of the public who did the work.
Rilwan Latheef, who was in charge of the initiative, told Adhadhu that he got a hammer from Manas Hardware to dig a deep path to the sea and redirect flood waters.
He said the work was done by owners of shops in the area and members of the public
