Two Indian Coast Guard ships have docked in Malé.
The two vessels arrived in the Maldives and docked near Malé yesterday morning, reports say.
The Indian Coast Guard's official X account announced yesterday evening that the coast guard ships Vaibhav and Abhiraj made a port call in Malé, Maldives.
According to the post, the visit aims to strengthen India-Maldives joint maritime operations, with a focus on search and rescue operations and marine pollution response.
The visit will also feature cross-deck visits with Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) personnel, and joint diving exercises with a crew visit to the reclaimed island of Kudagiri, the post said.
India's coast guard described the visit as a symbol of its commitment to security and regional cooperation in the Indian Ocean, emphasising strengthened maritime ties and fostering goodwill.
When asked for further details regarding the ships' docking, the MNDF stated it had no additional information to share beyond what was publicly released. The MNDF has yet to issue its own statement on the matter.
