A Maldivian man has been arrested in Bangkok with three kilograms of mephedrone hidden in a bottle of protein supplements.

Thai media reported that the bottle was imported into Bangkok through courier service and the man was arrested when he went to collect the package.

Thai police have not disclosed the name of the suspect and are investigating whether there are others involved in the drug network.

In June, police seized 840 grams of mephedrone hidden in coffee capsules that were imported into Bangkok from Poland via courier service. A Russian man was arrested.

Additional drugs were also seized during the investigation. These include MDMA, ecstasy, cocaine, ketamine and others.

Bangkok is a popular holiday destination for many Maldivians. The crime rate of Maldivians in Bangkok has increased recently.
