The Universal Foundation has awarded three fully funded medical specialization scholarships.

Since its inception in 2014, the Universal Foundation has been helping to build people in various fields. Before that, Universal provided higher education opportunities for many Maldivians.

Doctors who won the scholarship

• Dr. Fathimath Mishfa Waseem - ENT (University of Malaya)
• Dr. Nuha Abdul Rahman - Pediatrics (University Malaya)
• Dr. Aminath Najda - Surgeon (University Science Malaysia)

The Universal Foundation said its goal is to help develop human resources in key areas. The foundation has, so far, awarded scholarships to 121 students. Fifteen of them are currently studying.

The foundation is also running a Certificate 3 program to encourage young people to enter the hospitality industry.

As of last year, 130 students have graduated from the program and 20 are currently completing internships at Universal's resorts.
