A large number of people have been hired at the request of ruling party lawmakers despite the worsening financial situation.

There are 75 MPs from the People's National Congress (PNC) in the 20th Parliament.

Sources from PNC told Adhadhu that the government guaranteed a specific number of jobs for each MP and that people have already been hired for some of these jobs.

Some PNC members and senior government officials told Adhadhu that employees were hired for these jobs this month as well.

These jobs are allotted in the government and state-owned enterprises.

Meanwhile, the state's financial situation has deteriorated and its credit ratings have been downgraded.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu came to power with a pledge to not exceed 700 political employees. However, as of May, there were more than 700 political employees, according to information obtained under the Right to Information Act.

The government refuses to disclose the total number of political employees.
