The health sector must be reformed along with progress, ADK Managing Director Ahmed Afaal has said.
Speaking at the Maldives Brain and Spine Conference 2024 organized by ADK today, Afaal said the health sector in Maldives is advancing due to new technologies.
Afaal said the health sector should be responsive to these developments and health sector reform is very important.
"Instead of staying in hospital for a week after surgeries, patients are now discharged within a day after surgery. That is how far we have progressed. If the entire system is not responsive, the health sector will slow down at some point," Afaal said.
Noting that the Brain and Spine Conference has made significant progress since its inception in 2017, Afaal said artificial intelligence (AI) and robot technology would be used in the next conference.
He added that investments should be made in the health system and efforts should be made to strengthen the system.
ADK's presentations will be featured and panel discussions will be held today at the Brain and Spine Conference.
The Brain and Spine Conference, which ends tomorrow, features various workshops and a live surgery in collaboration with the Shafi'a Institute of Health.
