Mohamed Saeed has been appointed the new Managing Director of the state broadcaster Public Service Media (PSM).

The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) appointed Saeed to the post on Saturday following the resignation of former MD Zeena Zaheer.

Zeena did not disclose the reason for her resignation.

However, some PSM employees told Adhadhu that Zeena resigned due to pressure and influence from the government.

"Zeena resigned because she was under pressure to stay in office despite being instructed by the government to change the management,” an employee said on condition of anonymity.

Saeed has previously held many positions. He served as the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education during former President Abdulla Yameen's administration.

He worked with the Progressive Party of Maldives-People's National Congress (PPM-PNC) coalition in last year's presidential election.
