Thulusdhoo, Maldives (August 24): Mirai Ikeda from Japan won the Asian Surfing Championship Women's title, while I Made Pajar Ariyana from Indonesia took the Men's Open title in the competition.
Pajar defeated fellow countryman I Made Joi Satriawan, along with Japanese surfers Ikko Watanabe and Taki Kanazawa, in the final heat.
Pajar secured victory with 15.50 points, while Joi earned 14.34 points, Watanabe received 11.80 points, and Kanazawa scored 9.07 points.
"Feel so happy to win here. This is my first time here (in Maldives). So Happy, The Maldives. Many (Surfing) points many waves. Waves are so fire here. I love this place" Pajar stated about winning the title at the ASF Asian Surfing Championship 2024, during his first visit to the Maldives.

Last year’s runner-up, Mirai, claimed the title this time after an exciting final heat.
Mirai earned 12.93 points, while Anri Matsuno, another Japanese surfer, finished in second place with 11.83 points.
"Japan team is awesome, really really good waves, I could enjoy this competition" Mirai Ikeda said after winning the title.
In the women's open final heat, Siqi Yang from China finished in third place with 8.16 points, while Taina Angel Izquierdo from Indonesia placed fourth with 7.97 points.
