The winner of Dhiraagu's "Win a Tesla" promotion was announced on Monday night.

The owner of mobile number 7743350, Mohamed Musthafa, was selected as the winner after a lucky draw.

Customers who subscribed to plans on or above Postpaid 450 and Fibre Broadband 30M had the chance to win the Tesla.

Musthafa, 50, from Kaafu Thulusdhoo island, will get a Tesla Model III white electric car.

This is the most expensive prize ever offered during a promotion in Maldives. The promotion was launched to mark Dhiraagu's 35th anniversary. The promotion was well received by the public.

Musthafa told Adhadhu that he was overjoyed after winning something in a lucky draw for the first time in his life.

"It feels so strange to win this so suddenly. I am very happy. I am very grateful to my Creator for giving me such a blessing," Musthafa said.

Musthafa, who works for the Maldives Customs Service, found out about the Tesla promotion while on an off day in his home island of Thulusdhoo.

Musthafa said he was having tea at a sister's house when he received a call from Dhiraagu after the lucky draw. Musthafa said he struggled to believe it but was able to confirm it through social media.

"I had already learned that Dhiraagu was holding the Tesla draw at the Dhiraagu Eid show. They called me while I was having tea at a sister's house. At first, I didn't believe it. The [internet] net convinced me that I had won the car," he said.

Musthafa said he would consult with his family about what to do with the car. He said he had driving licenses for both cars and motorcycles.
