Public Service Media (PSM) has filed a complaint with the Maldives Media Council (MMC) against Adhadhu for reporting about the cancellation of plans for a live broadcast of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.
When Adhadhu asked about the reasons for canceling the live coverage on Sunday, PSM Deputy Managing Director Yameen Rasheed denied making any plans for a live broadcast of Modi’s swearing-in ceremony.
“We never decided to bring it live. That is absolutely false news,” Yameen said.

Despite his denial, Adhadhu has obtained a shooting schedule of PSM programmes. The schedule included live coverage of Modi’s ceremony from 6 pm to 8 pm on Sunday. Presenters and technicians as well as sound and lighting staff had been arranged for the scheduled coverage.

In addition, PSM made the graphics to be displayed in the background during the coverage. The graphics have also been obtained by Adhadhu.
Moreover, three PSM employees confirmed the decision for a live broadcast of Modi’s swearing-in ceremony to Adhadhu.
However, employees were later informed of the cancelation of the coverage.
In a statement sent to Adhadhu on Monday and later posted on social media, PSM said it had never decided to broadcast Modi's swearing-in ceremony but usually covers the President's overseas trips.
"This was not an exclusive coverage of the swearing-in ceremony," the statement read.
