Nazu Naseem.
The People's National Front (PNF) has endorsed Nazu Naseem, former Youth Minister Ahmed Mahloof's wife who is contesting on the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) ticket for the Fuvahmulah Dhekunu constituency.
Former Science Minister Mohamed Maleeh Jamal, a senior member of the PNF leadership and interim senate, confirmed the endorsement to Adhadhu. The PNF is working across the country against President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, he said.
"Yes, yes, we're working all over the Maldives to find a way other than Muizzu," Maleeh said.
The PNF's endorsement of Nazu Naseem, sister of former Vice President Faisal Naseem, came after the MDP supported Mohamed Sharaffudin, a candidate affiliated with the PNF who is contesting in the Fuvahmulah Uthuru constituency.
The MDP, which did not field a candidate in the Fuvahmulah Uthuru constituency, announced the endorsement in a press statement yesterday.
Both the MDP and PNF, formed under the leadership of former President Abdulla Yameen, are in opposition to the ruling People's National Congress (PNF).
Several PNF leadership figures hail from Fuvahmulah island, including Maleeh, former Vice President Dr. Mohamed Jameel Ahmed and former MP Shifaq Mufeed.
