Twenty-two mobile phones have been seized during a search of several cells in Maafushi Prison.

The raid was conducted on March 6 in connection with fraud cases being investigated by the police. One of the cases involves MVR 500,000.

"During the operation, 22 mobile phones, 10 chargers, 10 headsets/airpods, two SIM cards and parts of mobile phones were recovered from some cells of Maafushi Prison," police said.

Further investigations are underway, police said.
