Ministers Ahmed Shiyam, Mohamed Saeed, and Abdulla Rafiu, along with Members of Parliament Ibrahim Shujau and Fathimath Saudha, and Presidential Spokesperson Mohamed Hussain Shareef, have been elected as Vice Presidents of the People's National Congress (PNC) at the party's ongoing congress.
MP Asma Rasheed and the CEO of the Local Government Authority (LGA), Mohamed Nimal, failed to secure seats in the election. Out of the 1,095 delegates who cast their votes, Asma received only 288 votes, while Nimal garnered 301 votes.

- Abdulla Rafiu – 968 votes
- Ahmed Shiyam – 964 votes
- Fathimath Saudha – 923 votes
- Ibrahim Shujau – 862 votes
- Mohamed Saeed – 828 votes
- Mohamed Hussain Shareef – 780 votes
- Mohamed Nimal – 301 votes
- Asma Rasheed – 288 votes
The election was conducted digitally via a mobile application, where members cast their ballots by scanning a QR code. A five-minute window was allocated for the voting process.
The results were announced shortly after the conclusion of the vote by Fuwad Thowfeek, representing the PNC Elections Committee.
Ahead of today's internal elections, President Mohamed Muizzu appealed to party members last night to remain united and avoid internal divisions.
"In any contested election, there will be winners and losers. Our resolve must be to remember our shared goals and ensure that no division arises among us once the election concludes," Muizzu stated.
