As part of EyeCare Hospital's commitment to providing high-quality ophthalmic care in the Maldives, Dr. Sofia Makaju has officially joined the hospital’s team of eye specialists.
Dr. Sofia is a highly skilled professional with extensive training and experience in diagnosing and treating various eye conditions and performing ophthalmic surgeries. She holds a Master of Surgery (MS) in Ophthalmology from the Manipal College of Medical Sciences and completed a Fellowship in Anterior Segment at the Himalayan Eye Hospital in Pokhara, Nepal.
During her specialized training, Dr. Sofia gained valuable experience across various subspecialties at the Tilganga Institute of Ophthalmology in Kathmandu. Additionally, she completed practical clinical and surgical training at the specialized clinics and operating theaters of the Himalayan Eye Hospital.
In recognition of her outstanding performance during her ophthalmology training, Dr. Sofia was honored with the "Professor Dr. Ram Prasad Pokhrel (Aankha Ba) NOS YO Best Resident Award 2025."
The addition of Dr. Sofia to the EyeCare team marks a significant step forward in the hospital's mission to expand access to premium eye care services for the public.
