SIMDI Group and Care Society have launched their annual special internship program designed for individuals with disabilities.

This marks the fourth consecutive year the program has been conducted as part of SIMDI Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives in partnership with Care Society.

The objective of the program is to provide practical workplace experience for persons with disabilities, helping them build essential professional skills and the self-confidence required to enter the job market.

This year’s intern is Fathimath Yadhuya Rasheed, a student currently enrolled in the Care Development Centre’s "Readiness for Employment" program. Yadhuya will complete her internship at SIMDI CPD, one of the group’s core business divisions.

During the internship, Yadhuya will receive hands-on training in a retail business environment and benefit from the mentorship of industry professionals. This program stands as a highlight of SIMDI Group’s ongoing commitment to social inclusion and youth empowerment.

Established in 2000, SIMDI Group is one of the Maldives' largest and most diversified business entities. Through initiatives like this internship, the company provides opportunities for persons with disabilities to engage in productive and meaningful work within the community.

Care Society is a non-governmental organization that has been dedicated to advocating for the rights and empowerment of persons with disabilities in the Maldives since 1998.

Care Society highlighted that this collaborative internship program with SIMDI Group offers a valuable opportunity for individuals with disabilities to familiarize themselves with the professional working environment. The program is expected to foster greater social inclusion across various sectors and drive positive social change.
