The Maldives' first "Shark Research and Conservation Hub" has ben officially inaugurated in Fuvahmulah City by the non-governmental organization, "The Miyaru Programme."
According to the Fuvahmulah City Council, the newly established center is designed to serve as a focal point for scientific research, education, collaboration, and the fostering of environmental innovation.
The Miyaru Programme emphasized that the facility is more than just a headquarters or a laboratory; it is envisioned as a collaborative space where researchers, students, dive professionals, and the local community can converge to work on various conservation projects.
The organization further noted that the hub will feature research facilities, interactive exhibits, educational displays, and spaces for citizen science and collaborative teamwork.
The Fuvahmulah City Council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at marine conservation, noting that such efforts are vital to maintaining the island's reputation as one of the world's premier shark diving destinations.
