Mohamed Faizal, the Secretary General of the National Pay Commission, resigned from his post yesterday.
While the Finance Ministry has confirmed Faizal’s resignation, the ministry has not officially disclosed a reason for his departure. However, credible sources indicate that Faizal stepped down at the request of the government.
Prior to his appointment as the Secretary General of the Pay Commission, Faizal held several high-profile positions, including Secretary General of the Civil Service Commission (CSC) and Director of Performance Management at the President’s Office. His career in the civil service began in 1996 as a Research Officer Trainee at the President’s Office.
In terms of academic qualifications, Faizal holds a PhD in Public Policy from Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand.
The National Pay Commission is the primary authority responsible for determining the salary and benefit policies for state employees.
