The President's Office announced today that 10 ministers from President Mohamed Muizzu’s cabinet have resigned to facilitate reforms.
According to information obtained by Adhadhu, Muizzu personally requested the resignation of several ministers. While some were given the opportunity to resign, others were dismissed.
In a statement addressing the matter, the President's Office maintained that all ministers had resigned voluntarily to pave the way for the President's intended reforms.
"The President has accepted the resignations of 10 Cabinet Ministers, tendered today to allow him the opportunity to implement the positive Government reforms he envisions in keeping with the aspirations of the people," the statement read.
The ministers who have resigned are:
- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr. Abdulla Khaleel
- Minister of Social and Family Development, Dr. Aishath Shiham
- Minister of Defence, Ghassan Maumoon
- Minister of Local Government, Adam Shareef
- Minister of Health, Abdulla Nazim
- Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare, Dr. Maryam Mariya
- Minister of Tourism, Thoriq Ibrahim
- Minister of Youth, Ibrahim Waheed (Asward)
- Minister of Higher Education, Dr. Ali Haidar
- Minister of Dhivehi Language, Adam Naseer
