Manadhoo MP Husnee Mubarik has been appointed as a member of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
The swearing-in ceremony was held at the President's Office today. The oath was administered by Supreme Court Justice Ali Rasheed Hussain.
Husnee Mubarik was appointed to the judicial oversight body as the member representing the People's Majlis.
The position was previously held by Maafushi MP Hussain Riza Adam, who resigned on Sunday. Riza was also the Chairperson of JSC.
The ruling party MP did not announce a reason for the resignation.
Supreme Court Justices Husnu Suood, Azmiralda Zahir and Mahaz Ali Zahir were removed from office after Riza became the JSC Chairperson.
They were removed after the top court accepted a review of the constitutional amendments to chain MPs to their respective parties.
